Corrpro recently completed a contract to cathodically protect reinforcing steel for the external facade of the Berjaya Mahe Beach Resort in the Seychelle Islands.

The Seychelles is an African country that consists of approximately 90 islands in the Indian Ocean north of Madagascar. Corrosion of the reinforcing steel was accelerated because of the hotel's closeproximity to the ocean and the resulting ingress of salt into the concrete. High ambient temperatures and relative humidity also contributed to the corrosion process.

Corrpro's scope consisted of the design, supply and installation supervision of an ELGARD™, titanium-based anode mesh, cathodic protection system. The ELGARD™ system was chosen to provide the longest possible life for the structure.

The project is an example of the unique, cost-effective benefits provided to our customers through a joint effort between several Corrpro offices. Harco Pacific Technologies in Singapore was responsible for the commercial aspects of the project; Wilson Walton Middle East provided on-site supervision and testing; and the engineering design was completed by the Corporate Concrete Group in Medina, OH and West Chester, PA.
